If a program is cancelled by Lauralton Hall, full payment will be refunded or an alternative class will be offered. If a participant is withdrawn from a program by his or her parents for any reason at any time after registration, a full refund less a $50 processing fee for each program will be issued. If a participant is dismissed from a program for disciplinary reasons, no refund will be issued.

All discounts must be applied at the time of class selection and cannot be applied retroactively.

All changes made to individual camp enrollment after each session begins will incur a $25 processing fee.

Fifth – Eighth Graders

 

Advanced Music Production

Do you play a musical instrument? Do you love singing? Would you like to record your own music? Using our NEW innovation lab, students will learn the basics of music production, sound engineering, and software editing. This is an interactive and hands-on course designed to give everyone the opportunity to record and produce music that they bring home on a cd.

Session 3: July 10th - 14th | 9 am - 1 pm

 

Cartooning

Campers will learn to use shapes and lines to create their very own cartoon characters under the guidance and assistance of the head instructor. Campers will practice different techniques and tools while learning to liven up their drawings with action and emotion. Let your child’s creativity soar as they are challenged to create original characters of their choice! As a result of this class, campers will receive a published version of their favorite comic, along with all of their finished creations.

Session 7: August 7th - 11th | 9 am - 1 pm

 

CSI

In this fun-filled, educational workshop, campers are summoned to various staged crime scenes where they will participate in gathering evidence and concluding activities in hopes to solve the crime. Along with fellow investigators, campers will use biology, chemistry, mathematics and deductive reasoning to weigh evidence and apply findings in the quest to find the culprit. Participants will learn how to collect and analyze fingerprints, lip prints and shoe prints, in addition to conducting hair and hand writing analysis. Campers will be challenged to identify mystery powders and solutions, more to solve the crime!

Coding and Programming

Are you ready for the technology driven future? Do you know how many careers will require technological expertise? In this NEW course, campers will be given a head start on these sought-after skills. Campers will program using block coding and will be able to create design character movements with mini applications. Campers will also learn to use varied cloud based Google applications which are wonderful tools for future scholastic and other endeavors! Finally, all campers will have the opportunity to try their hand at building their own website.

Session 1: June 26th - 30th | 9 am - 1 pm

 

Cross Country

This camp centers on training and workouts that are catered to beginner and younger runners. Runners will spend time learning how to properly warm up and cool down. They will learn a wide variety of drills and routines in addition to cross-training plans to supplement their running. Campers will learn about injury prevention, general strength and conditioning as well as basic training theology. Permission form required to run off campus under the supervision of the head instructor and counselors.

Creative Cupcake

Not only will campers learn some great recipes through this NEW course, their creativity will be put to the test to create new and unique treats based on the different daily challenges. Just one of the perks of this class: the cupcakes and frosting concoctions are brought home daily to share! At the end of the week, campers will go home with a personalized cookbook along with some of their peers’ top-rated recipes!

DIY Designs

Campers will be challenged to create a variety of art projects following the simple designs! Campers will design their own tee shirts, decorative pieces and so much more! This camp is guaranteed to satisfy those crafty at heart!

Escape the Room!

In this NEW and exciting program, campers will participate in a live action team based games where they discover clues, solve puzzles and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms to accomplish a specific goal! This program is guaranteed fun and will help foster your campers creativity, problem solving skills, and communication skills! Campers will attempt to “escape” puzzles daily and will even create their own for their families to try to escape at the end of the end of the week!

Engineering Challenge

In this NEW inquiry based course, campers will explore the fascinating yet practical world of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering. Working in our NEW innovation lab, campers will work individually, as well as collaborate with their peers using 3D printers, doodle pens and so much more to create solutions to real world problems, build prototypes and working models, and then testing them in engineering challenges.

Intermediate Art

In this class, campers will be challenged both creatively and critically. Each day, your camper will complete a different project that emphasizes the new acquired techniques. Students will work on advancing their skills while focusing on their creativity and will be challenged to use a variety of different materials to create their own masterpieces which will be brought home at the end of the week!

International Cooking

Through this weeklong course, chefs will learn a variety of different cuisines from around the world! Campers will learn about different spices and ingredients while also being exposed to a variety of cultures. Your child will leave our course not only with the skills and confidence in the kitchen, yet also with a cookbook full of our recipes and decorate a serving dish!

Session 2: July 3rd - 7th | 9 am - 1 pm

 

Journalism

Through this exciting class, campers will explore the fast paced world of reporting the news through writing and other forms of the media. Your child will analyze newspapers, brainstorm article ideas, learn the art of interviewing and research and write articles on topics of interest. At the end of the week, the class will publish their own newspaper and bring it home to share with the family!

Just Desserts

Does your child enjoy baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes? Through this course, campers will make a variety of delicious baked goods, from scones, cakes, breads, cupcakes, cookies and more! Your child will also learn how to make homemade frostings and will experience a wide variety of flavors and combinations! Campers will also be exposed to a variety of techniques and different recipes. Your child will come home daily with delicious treats along with a personalized cookbook!

Photography 101

This NEW course will help campers learn how to take the perfect picture using phones and digital cameras. Learning how to manipulate their images, campers will learn how to edit photos guaranteed to get likes. Campers should bring their own cameras and cell phones daily for use.

Leadership and Public Speaking

In this NEW course, campers will collaborate with peers to compete in a variety of challenges which will test their listening and cooperation skills. Campers will have fun while gaining experience on how to be an effective team member and confident communicator. Campers will make sales pitches on products that they design, create a commercial to sell an “unpopular” good, and have the opportunity to read and analyze famous public speeches, taking inspiration from the greats while being challenged to create their own on topics of their choice.

Softball

Participants will be instructed by a highly qualified staff along with Lauralton Hall players with the objective of refining your daughter skills and understanding of the rules of the game for hitting, catching, and running the bases. Through drills, activities and mini games, your athlete will gain the knowledge and fundamental skills of the sport while working on team building and sportsmanship.

Soup to Dessert! Meal Planning

Campers are guaranteed to love this NEW course! Each day, they will learn how to create complete meals to bring home and share. Campers will learn new techniques and how to pair items together. Through this course, they will build on their knowledge and confidence in the kitchen. Campers will also come home with a cookbook full of recipes and meals planned along with a personalized item for the kitchen.

S.T.E.M. G.E.M.S.

In S.T.E.M. G.E.M.S. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Generating Excitement through Mechanized Systems) students will learn to be problem solvers and to use critical thinking skills. Working in our NEW innovation lab and utilizing their imagination, your camper will be asked to construct robots using the Lego Mindstorms kit and to program their creations with the NXT-G programming software. Throughout the week each group will be faced with challenges. At the end of the week, the groups will be given two days to build a robot of and give a presentation to parents.

Story Tellers: Creative Writing

In this NEW course, campers will be given the instruction and support to explore their creativity while strengthen their creative writing skills through exercises in plot, exposition, and character development. Campers will discuss common story themes from current relatable literature and film while strengthening creativity and organization. Campers will work in their own writing journal and will be inspired by various prompts and challenged to express themselves through their writing in a variety of formats. Students will leave with a published version of their favorite works from the week.

Video Production 201

This NEW and IMPROVED course will help campers improve upon their technological skills and enable them to become more technological savvy. Completing vines, participating in crazy video challenges, making music videos, writing skits and so much, your camper will be exposed to a variety of programs, and be challenged to create skits, film and edit their movies! Campers will use our NEW innovation lab that includes a green screen and so much more! Students will leave with a DVD full of their skits and movies from the week!
